Roof Top of the World Tour

Discover diverse architecture of the world’s most beautiful monasteries. Witness the Earth’s highest mountain on this unforgettable tour.

Set amidst the Northern Himalayan ranges lies the area of Ladakh. Let being the main city stands proudly in the valley at 3300 metres. A few hundred kilometres in every direction are high passes which go as high as up to 5359 metres and the view is breathtaking. All the passes are motor-able and are the highest motor-able roads in the world. Lady region is divided into 2 regions. Nubra valley which is north of Leh city and Zanskar valley which is south of the Leh city. You will find some of the most beautiful monasteries in this region. Besides its cultural attraction this area is also very popular for adventure. So for those seeking trekking, expeditions, whitewater rafting and sighting the Himalayan snow Leopard, this is the best place to be. As Leh is at a high altitude the day of arrival is used to just relax and rest at the hotel so as to acclimatise to the altitude. You have the Indus river which is a mythological river in Hindu manuscripts, which runs through Leh itself. When you move westwards from Leh towards Lamayuru you pass by and drive all the way alongside the Zanskar river, which in the winter freezes over and is open for a month’s period during end Jan time as the Chadar Trek, one of the absolute must do treks in the world. Basically it’s a trek on the frozen river and you encounter temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees and the wind factor can further reduce temperatures by 10 degrees. The river passes through very narrow gorges and this can at some places be compared to the Grand Canyon. Ladakh region is open only June to early Oct each year. Other than that it remains shut due to extreme cold and snowfall. The locals however continue to live there. The landscape around this region is unparalleled in the world and a photographer’s delight.
