Treasures of India Maharajas’ Express

Treasures of India is a 3 nights and 4 days whirlwind tour across the famed Golden Triangle tour circuit of India. From the colorful bazaars and majestic forts of Rajasthan, to catching the glimpse of tigers prowling in the wild in Ranthambore National Park

Fashioned to include several historic sites in India, this splendid tour takes place onboard the Maharajas Express, the premier luxury train in the world. Here as you journey from the metropolis of Dehli to the red sandstone and white marble of the Amber Fort, you will experience a retelling of important parts of Indian history. Then you get to experience a royal lifestyle in Jaipur, where you can enjoy an exhibition Elephant Polo Match. On this tour, importantly you are never far from best portions of the country, whether you are chasing tigers in Ranthambore National Park or enjoy dinner over sparkling wine at the City Palace.


Day 01: Sunday, Dehli

Welcome aboard the Maharajas’ Express.

This morning, assemble at Delhi Safdarjung station at approximately 0830 hours and complete your registration and check in formalities for the Maharajas’ Express, as you enjoy sipping into your welcome drink the Live Instrumental Music.

The Maharajas’ Express departs Delhi at 0930 hours for Agra. Enjoy brunch on board as you arrive into Agra. As you reach the ‘City of Mughal Splendour’, Agra explore the exquisite Agra Fort or you may choose optional activities such as spa at a five star hotel or a private shopping tour or a visit to the Itmad-ud-daulah. Please contact the Guest Relations Executive for the optional activities.

Later, enjoy hi tea with Champagne at Taj Khema, a tableland overlooking the magnificent Taj!

Return back to the Maharajas’ Express by 1945 hours.

Dinner on board.

Day 02: Monday, Agra – Ranthambore

Early this morning at 0645 hours, disembark to visit the world famous Taj Mahal (one of the Seven Wonders of the World), built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the mausoleum for his favourite queen Mumtaz Mahal. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this incomparable marvel is constructed entirely out of white marble and is an architectural masterpiece with beautiful inlay work and marble screens.

Later, enjoy breakfast on board as you travel to your next destination Ranthambore.

Arrive into Ranthambore at around 1330 hours. Post lunch on board proceed for an exciting game drive at Ranthambore National Park. Originally the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Jaipur, Ranthambore was declared a National Park in 1973. The Park is famous for its open sightings of tigers, sambar, chital, nilgai, chinkara, wild boar, sloth bear, hyena, jackal and leopard. The safari cannot be compared to that of Africa and you are indeed fortunate if you spot the elusive tiger or the shy leopard.

Proceed for an afternoon exciting game drive at 1400 hours.

Hi tea will be served at Vivanta by Taj; Return to the Maharajas’ Express by 1830 hours as it leaves for Jaipur. Dinner on board.

Day 03: Tuesday, Jaipur

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board.

Following disembarkation and a grand traditional welcome begin your exciting tour of the pink city with a visit to Amber Fort at 0900 hrs. The Amber Fort, set in picturesque and rugged hills is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by Mirja Raja Jai Singh, the fort was made in red sand stone and white marble. The rugged forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise with a beautiful fusion of art and architecture. Amber is the classic and romantic fort-palace with a magnificent aura.

A short jeep ride takes you up to the fort where you will enjoy a tour of the royal apartments, with striking views of the gorge. Step back into the Mughal era as you enter the Chamber of Mirrors (Sheesh Mahal), and the Hall of Victory. Return back to the train for a leisurely lunch on board. You may also choose to participate in the optional activities such as Spa facilities at a five star hotel or Private shopping tour or Golfing at Rambagh Golf Club or visit the City Palace and Jantar Mantar (The Observatory).

At 1730 hours proceed for a unique and enthralling experience – an Jai. Your arrival at the venue will be accompanied by the royal military band and the beating of ‘Nagadas’ (huge Indian drums). You may choose to watch or participate in an exhibition game. After the match, enjoy dinner over sparkling wine at the City Palace.

Afterwards return to the station by 2100 hours as Maharajas’ Express proceeds for Delhi.

Overnight on the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 04: Wednesday, Delhi

Breakfast will be served 0715 hours onwards on board as you arrive into Delhi. At 0830 hours Maharajas’ Express arrives Delhi Safdurjung Railway Station. Disembark and bid farewell to the Maharajas’ Express as your journey comes to an end.

The itineraries and timings are subject to change, due to factors beyond our control such as ‘force majeure’ events, strikes, fairs, festivals, sport events, weather conditions, disruptions/diversions of rail services, re-routing of railway, closure of / restricted entry at a place of sightseeing, non availability of venues etc.

3. The tour will generally be organised as per details given above. However one may please check any changes in the program/timings provided in the travel document during check in formalities and/or check with Train Manager during the tour for any last minute changes/updates.
